Idea #15 – Guitar Organ.

Twelve guitars, each laid horizontally and with an ebow (each trained on a different string), each routed through a Digitech Whammy pedal and a Boss OC-3.

The output of all twelve guitars are routed to a mixing console. The volume of each individual guitar is triggered via MIDI from a piano keyboard. The keyboard can be played as a keyboard, the ‘samples’ it triggers are the guitars.

As a note is played an overhead light comes up on that particular guitar, indexed to the volume of the sound.

The piece begins in the dark, one pulse enters and disappears, the single light comes up. Over time the sound (and hence the lighting) becomes more and more complex.

Each note from the console/keyboard is output to a different amp situated around the performance space, making it a twelve-point system.
